Biofluids

Asterand is a leading supplier of human biofluids. We maintain a significant bank of samples from a diverse group of diseases and ethnic populations for immediate shipment to customers. All samples and derivatives are available as non-pooled aliquots from individual cases. Each aliquot is accompanied by detailed clinical information from the specific case and undergoes Asterand's standard quality assurance measures.

Through its extensive repository, Asterand offers its customers a rapid turnaround on biofluid availability. Furthermore, the detailed clinical information provided with each sample permits researchers to reach more definitive conclusions from their experimental results.

Blood/Serum/Plasma
Under Asterand's IRB approved protocols, blood, serum and plasma samples are collected from large population groups along with matched controls. Well characterized samples representing multiple diseases and therapeutic areas are available through our XpressBANK^TM biorepository for research and drug development purposes. Whole blood, plasma and serum are processed at our collaborating clinical sites and shipped to Asterand where the samples are subject to our Quality Assurance analysis.

Synovial Fluid
Asterand is able to provide synovial fluid from both surgical and post mortem donors. Due to variance in research requirements, most collections of this type are performed on a prospective basis. However, a limited number of cases are available in our XpressBANK^TM biorepository.

Other Biofluids
Collection protocols for many biofluids including urine, sputum, buccal cells have been developed and are available for review. Modifications to collection protocols can be made for custom procurement projects.
