Notification of Major Interests in Shares

Asterand plc ("Asterand" or the "Company") announces that it has received on 4 April 2007 notifications under the Disclosure and Transparency Rules as follows:

3i Group plc has disposed of a direct holding, and 3i Investments plc has disposed of an indirect holding, of 7,853,360 of the Company's ordinary shares of 5p each representing 7.7 % of the voting rights of the Company. The percentage of the voting rights of the Company now held, directly or indirectly, by 3i Group plc and 3i Investments plc is zero.

Omega Fund III, LP has acquired 7,853,360 of the Company's ordinary shares of 5p each representing 7.7% of the voting rights of the Company.
