Resignation of Director

The Company today announces that Mr. Ron Long, Senior Independent Director, has resigned with immediate effect.

Mr Long joined the Board of Pharmagene plc in February 2001 and, following the merger with Asterand Inc. in January 2006, continued to serve as Senior Independent Director of the Company, which was re-named Asterand plc.

David Lee, Chairman of Asterand plc commented, "We have been very fortunate to benefit from Ron's experience, insight and vision for several years. He has made a substantial difference to the development of the business. We wish Ron well for the future."
