Tissue microarray technology has been used as a research tool, typically in the validation of oncology targets, for several years. 3. Improving The Flow – Asterand’s PhaseZERO® Pharmacology Services For Urology Research
Historically, normal urological function and associated pathologies have been hard to characterise in human tissue in vitro due to poor availability and quality of tissue. Over the last 11 years, Asterand has established an extensive global network that allows access to a wide range of high quality human tissues, ethically consented for research. This provides us with regular access to a comprehensive range of urinary tissues including bladder, prostate and urethra from both male and female donors.   (full story)
4. Glucose – Stimulated Insulin Secretion Assays
At Asterand, we have developed an assay to study the effects of drugs and drug candidates on glucose-stimulated insulin secretion (GSIS) in human isolated pancreatic islets. This forms a key part of our Metabolic Disorders Package which has been designed to target our clients’ needs in the disease areas of diabetes, obesity and metabolic syndrome.
